I did this project as my master thesis, and it addresses the management of patients on waiting lists at the Department of Rheumatic Diseases at St. Olav’s Hospital. The County Board of Health and County Governor argues that the exceeded dates for consultation is due to an outdated system for the management of waiting lists. The situation is particularly critical for an outpatient clinic where the patients have chronic illnesses and suffer from significant ailments.
Literature, benchmarking of existing solutions and mapping methodology forms the base of information in the thesis. The gained insight revealed that the rheumatology department needs an integrated solution that takes booking, completion of medical patch and setup work into account. In addition, the exchange of information between the hospital and the patient had urgent deficiencies. I therefore developed an integrated booking and management system, as well as a communication tool for patients. The results of the thesis have received great response from the management consultant, the booking employees and a rheumatologist at the Department of Rheumatic Diseases. The insight and designed system serve as a base and inspiration for ongoing and upcoming projects within the healthcare division.

Looking at exciting patient administrative systems and other related solutions.
